Es gibt eine Vielzahl von Formaten, mit denen sich kaum noch jemand auskennt. 720/25p, 720/30p, 720/50p, 1080i, 1920i, usw. Wichtig ist nur eines: "p" steht für progressiv, "i" für interlaced. Also Vollbilder, oder Halbbilder.
1080i ist zwar nicht direkt 540p, da die Halbbilder ja zu Vollbildern in Bezug gesetzt werden müssen, aber spätenstens wenn Bewegung ins Spiel kommt ist 720p ist besser als 1080i. (Genauere technische Information erhalten Sie in einem kleinen Pop-Up-Fenster) Sendeanstalten mischen heute noch oft die Formate, teilweise wird PAL einfach hochkonvertiert, was natürlich qualitativ nichts bringt.

HDTV Produktion bedeutet jedoch auch, vernünftige Wiedergabemedien einzusetzen. LCD Flachbildschirme bieten eine Lösung. Sie sollten allerdings die native Auflösung des Aufnahmeformates können, also wenn mit 720/25p aufgenommen wird mindestens 1280x720 Pixel. Liegt die Auflösung darunter, wird der Bildschirm anfangen es zu konvertieren, Ruckelei ist die Folge. Für Projektoren gild das gleiche. Für ein paar wenige Euro ist HDTV nicht zu haben, wohl aber ist es heute deutlich billiger als noch vor einigen Jahren.

Wer heute schon HDTV produziert, sollte sich auf die Linkliste der Produktionsgesellschaften setzen lassen.

There are many formats and even more people who don't know what this is all about. 720/25p, 720/30p, 720/50p, 1080i, 1920i, aso. Important is: "p" stands for progressive, "i" for interlaced, means fullframes or halfframes.
If you produce 1080i you have around 750p, halfframes need to be converted to fullframes. But this only with still frames. Moving pictures loose a lot of quality, due to compression. That means 720p is better than 1080i ! Broadcasting stations partly upconvert PAL or NTSC content but that does not upgrade the quality.

HDTV production also needs good playback. LCD flatscreens provide such quality. But only if they can perform the native resolution of the incoming signal. 720p needs a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. If the resolution of the screen is below that, the screen renders the difference and that means the picture flickers. The same can be assumed for projectors. There is no HDTV production for only a few Dollars but it is a lot cheaper today than a few years ago.
